George VasilakosConspiracy X is a modern day, Aliens Among Us-Dark Government Conspiracy Genre, much like X-Files and Dark Skies. When doing illustrations for Conspiracy X, reflect a dark moody feel in the illustrations by playing with light and shadow.
Included are reference on the various alien races in Conspiracy X to keep the images consistent with previous illustrations.
Any type of illustration board or canvas is acceptable.
Try to avoid any board or canvas that is more that a 1/4" (.25) thick.
All illustrations must be centered on the board and have an illustrated bleed area of 1/8î (.125) on all sides.
The board can be cut to the end of the illustration bleed area or be given an additional neutral border, as long as the live image area is centered.
Generic size specifications are as follows:
Primarily, most Conspiracy X page illustrations are Half Page-Verticals.
After assignment, a preliminary sketch must be sent in by the preliminary sketch due date for review and approval by the Art Director before starting on the final illustration. Without this preliminary sketch, a final approved illustration will not be accepted and paid for. If sketches are not submitted by the due date, it will be assumed that you cannot finish the assignment for that illustration and that assignment will be given to another artist. You will be informed if such an instant arises.
The preliminary sketch must show the basic composition of the illustration in a readable format. This can range from a thumbnail drawing to finished pencils. But it is important that the sketch be approved before the final illustration is completed. Sketches can be faxed directly to the Art Director: FAX 518-435-1120.
Put your best work into the assignment. No matter how small or how large this project may seem to you, you were hired because of the quality of your work seen on other projects from your portfolio. If for any reason your final illustration does not fulfill the quality of work surrounded by it or promised by you, its creator, it will be returned for revisions. Final illustrations that are different from an approved preliminary sketch will also not be accepted.
